About Sarah Boone

I have practiced as a counselor in multiple therapeutic settings working with individuals and groups on issues that often arise in response to both anticipated and unexpected transitions throughout the life span. My speciality areas include anxiety, depression, grief, eating disorders, substance abuse, and parenting.

Exploring the connection between an individual’s mind, body and spirit is integral to my work.

I have specialized training to integrate spirituality and faith with psychotherapy if it is a source of strength for a client. I am a certified Nature Informed Therapist and where appropriate, I partner with nature and our sacred landscapes to foster healing. A hallmark of my work is helping clients integrate what I believe is central to the human experience—the emotional dichotomy of experiencing joy and sadness. In fact, I believe that embracing this process can lead to a greater sense of freedom and peace.

Experience

Before starting my own practice in 2018, I provided individual, family, and group therapy to clients as part of a group private practice. Previously, I worked in a diverse, community-based program. I also worked in both day treatment and out-patient programs for eating disorders including anorexia, bulimia and binge-eating disorder. I had the opportunity to work collaboratively with nutritionists, psychiatrists and other team members and provided both individual and group therapy.

From 2015-2020, I offered grief and loss groups that included a yoga component, providing a holistic experience for individuals who experienced losses. Since 2023, I have offered group experiences in partnership with one of our most powerful resources for healing—nature. These nature-based experiences have included Mental Health Hiking groups in both winter and fall seasons, a one-day immersive grief retreat as well as custom sessions for families and individuals. Some of my past professional group experiences include leading retreats and workshops on topics including motherhood, self-care, grief and loss, listening, relationships and boundaries.

I have had extensive volunteer roles with the organization Girls on the Run and within faith-based settings. Prior to pursuing a career in counseling, I spent 10 years doing fundraising and development work in private schools. I have been married for 22 years and have three children, ages 10, 13 and 17.
